| North
Deanhead and Burngrange farms extend to approx
2,300 acres (925 ha) with another smaller additional upland unit
of some 150 acres (60 ha). |
| The
farms are situated on the Pentland hills in South Lanarkshire
and vary from 2000 acres of predominantly heather moorland to
improved and ploughable inbye land. |
| Our
aim is to produce high quality, high health,
replacement females and breeding rams from our BF and Texel
and Blueface Leicester flocks and prime finished lambs and
breeding stock and prime beef from our Aberdeen-Angus and
Galloway herds of cows. |
We
carry approximately 70 single suckler cows
and finish all their progeny. We also have surplus incalf
heifers and heifers with calf at foot sometimes available.
Specially selected young bulls of both breeds are usually
available. |
| Our
sheep stock is based upon 1100
BF ewes, 920 of which are pure bred and run on the unimproved
heather hills and 180 are crossed with Bluefaced Leicester rams
to produce mule lambs for sale. |
We
also have a small flock of pure Bluefaces to produce
rams for home use and sale. We aim with our Texel flock to produce
quality commercial shearling rams and surplus females. |
| All
our livestock is produced under strictly commercial criteria.
We produce high quality healthy livestock and embrace all
relevant health schemes e.g. we are in a Hi-Health scheme,
are E.A.E. accredited,CLA and Scrapie monitored and are members
of the National Scrapie Plan. |
| Enquires
